Well again it has been awhile since I last wrote. I am really going to make an effort to start doing this more often. I can’t believe it will be June 1st tomorrow. Where does the time go? The year is almost half way over. I haven’t lost any weight since the New Year but I haven’t gained any. (I always try to look on the bright side) I have a trip to Vegas planned in 3 months (84 days to be exact) and I really want to lose some weight. I read the book Women, Food and God and it was a really great book. It is tough dealing with this food addiction. One day at a time. Since I last wrote, I have been trying to live a vegan lifestyle. I am doing it about 90% of the time. Occasionally I will have ice cream and milk chocolate.(sometimes the soy stuff just isn’t the same) It has been 4 months since I had any meat. I really don’t miss it that much. Everyone asks me if I feel so much better, honestly not really. I don’t feel worse but I can’t say that I feel a ton better either. I went vegan for many reasons, one being that I feel that factory farming is just awful. I think I might just call myself vegetarian instead of vegan (less pressure) I have never been a huge dairy fan so not eating cheese, milk or butter hasn’t been too bad. I actually prefer soy milk and soy butter. I do miss eggs, and I feel that my protein intake is a little low. We will see how long I will do it for. I make no promises.

Our church is reading the book of Exodus for the next few weeks. The life of Moses is amazing. I read the first 7 chapters today. It just blows my mind how we try to make excuses on why we can’t do God’s will. Moses gave God many different ones in the first few chapters of Exodus ; I can’t speak, no one will listen, I need a sign, ect. God has something amazing for you to do while you are here on the earth. Something only you can do. Our life journey is to listen to God and do his perfect will for our unique lives. We need to wake up each morning and put our own agenda aside and ask God what his will is for us on that day. It seems so easy but we do not do it. Jesus always said he was doing the Father’s will. He only did what the Father wanted him to do; even sending him to death on the cross. If only we lived like that every single day.

Overall I had a pretty good day. I also had some carrots. I burned 3,000 calories which is 200 less than my goal. I will make that up over the week.

My Life At….

Well I haven’t blogged in almost a month. Life has been pretty crazy!! I was on vacation for about 14 days and then I came home to a ton of work trips. Since Jan. 1st until last week I was only home 14 nights. I was in Seattle, Portland, LA and San Diego with a stop in Sacramento over a 6 day period. That is a full West Coast tour.

I am home now with no long work trips in site. I can try to get back into some type of routine. I really need to start exercising again. Maybe start running/jogging again. I really want to train for a 1/2 marathon but I am not sure if I have the discipline to run that much.

Back to the blog. I am going to start fresh tomorrow and start doing my digital food dairy again. I also am going to start my bite counting. That was way to long not too blog.

My Life At 210.5…. Jan.21st

Back to life back to reality…..I am finally home. I really loved spending time with my family. I miss the folks. I came home to a muddy house which I was not happy about but I am glad to see the dogs. I am suprised that I didn’t gain more weight on vacation because all I did was eat and lay around. Time to start getting serious about moving and eating right. Here are some more pictures from my vacation and today’s food choices!!

Tom and I tried somewhere new for lunch. The Savory Cafe in Woodland. It was really good. I had a grilled cheese and a salad. Tom gave it two thumbs up!!

Tom and I then went to TeaList in Davis. We love this place. I had peach and ginger tea with a raisin scone. It was awesome. I then kicked Tom out and Melissa joined me. We had a pot of vanilla tea.

I finished the day off with some of my homemade vegetable soup. Overall a pretty good day. I should have left out the dots but oh well.

My Daily Bread

So I picked up a The One Year Chronological Bible. This Bible goes through the books on a timeline on the way it really happened. I have never read the Bible this way before so it should be enlightening.

So I skimmed through “In Defense of Food”. It drags a little bit but he does summarize at the end and I decided I will write on each of his points on my next blog entry.

My Life At……Jan.12th through Jan.16th

I am still on vacation and I think I am ready to go home. I like it out here and can’t wait to visit in the summer but 10 days is too long to be away from home and my routine. I tried today to break my blog into columns but I couldn’t figure it out. Oh well I will just keep it the way it is. I want to add a few more sections other than my food log. I am going to write on my daily Bible reading called My Daily Bread; a section called Morsels which will be commentary on whatever book I am reading at the time; and a section called Nuggets of Wisdom, this will be random thoughts that I have for the day. They all have a food names, I see a theme!!!

I decided to start logging my food again even though I am on vacation. I don’t want to add any more weight. I have 5 months and 16 days until my Pebble Beach Challenge ends. My competition is already down 10 pounds. Vacation has really hurt me but I am going to get back on track.

My Daily Bread

I want to start blogging about my Bible reading. I am following a Bible in a year plan again this year but a little different. I am going to read the entire book instead of some verses from Old and New everyday. I will start in Genesis and then move to Matthew and so on throughout the year. According to the plan I should already be finished with the book of Genesis but I haven’t been reading much on vacation so I will have to make it up throughout the year. Genesis is an awesome book and I don’ t want to rush through it.

My Life At……??? Jan. 8th-11th

So I am in day 5 of my vacation. I can feel that I have gained some weight. My Mom’s scale is older than me so I will not be weighing myself everyday. The family came over to watch the Eagles get their butts kicked the other night. It was crazy times. My birthday was fun. A bunch of family and friends come over to celebrate. I am 33 years old. I feel old. We are 11 days into the New Year and I am not doing so well on my goals. Tomorrow is Pops Birthday, he is going to be 57 years old. Here are a few pictures of what I have been eating during my vacation. I need to get this in check before I come back 10 pounds heavier.

This is a Chipotle we went to on the way to Allentown from Philly. You can’t see it but they have the patio furniture out with about 2 inches of snow on the tables. Not burrito eating weather. I met the GM and he was great. The food tasted the same, which was awesome!!!

Philly cheese steak with pierogies. So good and so bad at the same time.

Tom with my parents new dog Duke. He is named after John Wayne. This dog is a piece of work. He swipes everything that is not tied down. I have never seen such a thing in all my 33 years. This dog makes Daisy look tame.

My Life At 209/207 Jan. 6th and 7th 2010

Well I am in Philly. The city is a lot cleaner and prettier than I remember it. The flight went well, I slept most of the time. We are staying the first night in Philly at the Hotel Palomar a Kimpton property. www.kimptonhotels.com I couldn’t believe parking was $37.00 dollars that is more expensive than San Fran, I didn’t think that was possible. Anyway, I am so happy to be on vacation. I really needed a break from certain people and things. It is time to get a better perspective on what my goals are in life, what my true priorities are, what is really important. This is the year of re-adjusting, not taking things so personally especially when it comes to work. Somethings in life will not change and you just need to accept them. I see a ton of patterns that I can not change and at the end of the day it is not my job to change them. I can just do my best and not worry about what others think or do. Some people take things so personal and it isn’t personal it is just biz ness (lol). I am so mafia. Enough about that, I am on vacation dang it.

Food has been out of control. It was hard to take pictures when I was traveling and getting ready to travel. No excuses though, I could have done it if I wanted to but I have been eating a lot because of stress at work and getting ready for the trip. I am here now, so no excuses. I am going to work out tomorrow morning at the gym. They have a sweet gym here. Goodnight everyone, from Philly!!!!

My Life At 205 Jan 5th 2010

Today was a terrible eating day. I am really stressed out trying to get ready for vacation that I am overeating. I am so mad at myself. Today is only Jan. 5th so I must stop this now before it turns into July 5th. I already checked with my Mom and made sure he has a scale and I have access to a gym. I will have a ton of time to work out and I plan to everyday. Can’t wait to see the family.

I watched the Biggest Loser tonight. That show makes me cry too much. It motivates me. I can do this. I didn’t take pictures of all my food because I downed a bunch of M&M’s and a ton of chips. Not too proud about that.

My Life At 204 Jan. 4th 2010

I went back to the office today. It has been awhile. I got some work done and cleaned my desk. It was a mess. I am down to 204 but I know not to get to excited because my weight fluctuations so much from day-to-day. I really wanted to get under 200 before PA but that is not going to happen. I have so much to do over the next two days. I need to clean, do laundry, put up the dog gates, take the Christmas tree and decorations down, pack, finish some work projects, finish off details for the travel to PA and go shopping for boots and gloves. I need a nap just from making that list.

I read Genesis Chapters 1-6. I love Genesis, it is an awesome book. The Bible is amazing. Every time you read it you learn something new about God, yourself and mankind. Love it!!!

My eating could have been better today. I went to Cheesecake Factory with Tom and Benny. They have the calories right there by the menu. I liked it better when I was ignorant.

One egg, half of a whole wheat english muffin and turkey sausage.

Leftover chicken stew.

Grilled mozzarella sandwich and fries. I only ate half which is good because the whole thing would have been 1500 calories. Ouch!!!

This little slice of heaven which I will call velvet cake cheesecake clocks in at 1500 calories too. Benny, Tom and I split it. I had one too many bites but I usually polish off the Adam Reese’s chocolate cheesecake which I was horrified to learn comes in at a whopping 1400 calories.

Results for today:

Bites=40

Burn=2800

Still over my goal of 30 and 3,177 burn. I need to get there. I am making progress but I need to not cheat.

My Life At 206.5 Jan.3rd 2010

I love Sundays. Church was awesome today. Worship was great and Tom did an awesome job with his message. I really feel we have some momentum going for 2010. Tom needs to get out of Target so he can go back to doing what God created him to do, minister. It is going to take some faith and stepping out on our part but I am sure God will supply beyond our wildest dreams. I can’t wait!! Tom spoke today about giving God your first and best, the beginning of the day and not your leftovers. I think sometimes I give God my leftovers and that needs to stop. On to the food part. I ate a lot today. No bueno. Tomorrow is the first Monday of the year and I am ready to go. I have been trying to ramp down on my calories (bites) . I also need to start working out. I burned 2600 today. I need to hit my calorie burn.

My husband’s best friend Joel and I are doing a competition. He has about 65 pounds to lose and I have about 77 pounds that need to go bye bye. We are going to do the Pebble golfing trip this year and our goal is to lose the weight by July 1st. I have to lose about 3 pounds a week which is a 1500 calorie a day deficit. I am going to burn 3,177 to be symbolic of the 77. That is also the year I was born. I am aiming to eat about 1500 calories a day. That falls more in line with the 10 bites, all the fruits and veggies I want, 150 beverage calories and 2 bites of dessert. This is definitely doable. I am very excited. I can do this.

Breakfast of champions. Coffee cake, mini chocolate doughnut and coffee with cream. I love Starbucks pastries!! 10 bites

Leftover pot roast. Just as good the second day. 10 bites

My new dutch oven recipe. Free range chicken, potatoes, green beans, citrus adobe rub, basil, rosemary, tomatoes and pearl onions. So yummy and easy. I am addicted to this dutch oven thing. The boys are loving it. 15 bites

More Starbuck’s pastries. Blueberry scone. Someone please stop me!!! 8 bites

43 bites again today. I see a theme. I have been eating in the 40 bite range everyday. I really need to cut it to 30 or I will not lose weight.

I finished the whole Bible today. I did the Bible in a year, for 2009. I was only two days behind which I think was awesome. The book of Revelation is a trip. I know that is very spiritual insight coming from a pastor’s wife, but it is really crazy. Part of me hopes I get to see some of that stuff and part of me is hoping I am already dead. Anyway, I had an ok day today. I cleaned the house most of the day. I really need to do some spring cleaning, my baseboards are awful. I need to get my couch professionally cleaned. The dogs are killing me. I did over eat today. I burned 3,000 calories today. Most of that was from cleaning the house. You can really burn calories cleaning the house. On with the food…

I finally bought a dutch oven. Anne Van let me borrow this awesome cookbook that has 2 people recipes. I made the Pot Roast tonight. It had green beans, pearl onions, mushrooms, carrots and Harris Ranch chuck roast. We use Harris Ranch beef at Chipotle. Naturally raised meat is the way to go. It turned out really well. I was feeding 4 people so I was worried that we wouldn’t have enough. My dutch oven is 3 quart so I just figured out the recipe and it turned out great. I can’t wait to do some more recipes. 12 bites.

Total bites was 47. It was over my goal of 30. I really need to cut out some of the snacks and make them fruit or veggies. If I would cut those out I would have had 36 bites which would have been a lot closer. I did have an orange and some raw carrots too. I feel full.
